For the past several years the Knights have sponsored a prayer hour at 11am every first Saturday of the month in the Chapel. The hour is centered on Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament, which continues until confessions at 3pm. The hour includes a wide range of prayers.
It starts with the first half of Benediction as the presiding priest moves the Eucharist from the tabernacle to a monstrance on the altar. After praying a Morning Offering, petitions are offered open to all participants to add to. An Act of Consecration to the Immaculate Heart of Mary and the Fatima Prayers follow.
A scriptural rosary is begun by the priest who then retires to hear confessions. Each decade is lead by a different Knight with scripture passages for mediation on each Hail Mary. A verse/response form is used for each prayer. The rosary is concluded with the Fatima petition on the rosary and the Saint Michael the Archangel Prayer.
At this point the women take charge. One leads The Litany of the Blessed Virgin Mary. A Chaplet of the Divine Mercy follows with each decade lead by a different woman. A Marian song, frequently Gentle Woman, concludes this portion of the prayers.
The priest then returns from confession and leads the concluding half of Benediction. At this point, all may either stay to worship or depart quietly. To allow the Eucharist to remain on the altar, individuals, preferably Knights, remain during each of the three hours until general Confession at 3pm.
Please consider joining us, this coming first Saturday, September 7. Your participation would be most welcome. If you are a Knight, please show your colors by wearing the Knights’ knit shirt.
